Palm oil producer First Resources has hit back at a Greenpeace report alleging the Singapore-listed company engaged in slash-and-burn land clearance practices on their plantations in Indonesia.

The company said its local subsidiary relinquished the right to develop the land in question in 1999 and it is not aware of who the current owner is.

First Resources also said no fires have been reported on its plantations.

The announcement comes on the back of other Singapore-based palm oil companies also denying the use of slash-and-burn practices on their plantations in Indonesia.
