Company’s size, budget matter in adopting sustainable practices: experts [News]

A company’s size and how large their purse strings are matters when it comes to adopting sustainable practices.
This is especially so for Singapore’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which are still grappling with cost issues to sustain their businesses.
That is the view of some business experts Channel NewsAsia spoke to at the Responsible Business Forum on Sustainable Development on Monday.
In Singapore, there are some 170,000 SMEs, contributing to more than half of the city state’s gross domestic product (GDP).
And the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) said most of the SMEs are struggling with manpower and other rising business costs, giving them less time to focus on issues like sustainability of their business practices, which could actually give them a competitive edge.
